#helsinki

#helsinki Briefly in English

  1. Behave

No shouting, flooding, ads, colors, actions, weird nicks, whining etc.

  2. Realname

All lurkers and idlers must have a real name in the appropriate place unless the person is well known otherwise.

To start, #helsinki is an IRC Channel. It is not Helsinki City Tourist Information, nor is it the Missing Persons or Lost and Found department of our dearly beloved capital city of Finland, Europe. For official info on the city, please visit http://www.hel.fi.

People on #helsinki use Finnish in their daily conversation. They can also use English, but do not expect everyone to do that. Do not try to talk in Hungarian, Polish or other exotic languages, or you will find yourself outside the channel with a nice bootprint in your behind.

Do behave. We idle a lot, and don't want people to disturb our peace. Special no-no's are shouting (all in CAPITAL LETTERS), colors, actions, public aways, repeated questions or other signs of stupidity. Also do not publicly log or publish anything from the channel. #helsinki has a realname policy for those who idle. If you are going to stay in the channel for a longer time and ops do not know you, you will need to have a real name (first and last name, check from your passport if necessary) in the appropriate field in your IRC Client. Also, inappropriate nicks containing unnecessary numbers, capital letters or special characters (for example 1337^m4n or nIcK) are not tolerated. If you do not like these policies, Ircnet is full of channels with more lenient policies.

If you violate any of the above rules, you will soon find yourself kicked from the channel. Getting kicked from the channel does not mean an invitation to rejoin the channel immediately. Please read the above and think what you might have done wrong, and fix your client or attitude appropriately before attempting to rejoin.

English text by rpr and Koo, both can be found on the channel.
