- - - - - > As suspected, what is causing the problem is that you have too many > tracks uploaded on your account. Ok. I'll get back to this later on this this reply, but first maybe I should explain what I was going to do in the first place. I represent in this matter a finnish progressive rock band called Absoluuttinen Nollapiste who celebrates it's 20 year anniversary this year. The band have released 10 studio albums so far and a couple of compilations. Throughout the years, the bands lead singer and main composer Tommi Liimatta have made home recordings both alone and with different line-ups. The earliest recordings are from the year 1983, when he was six (!) years old and the most recent are from 2004. Some of these songs and lyrics found their way to Absoluuttinen Nollapiste's official albums whereas the rest remaided as curiosities. In 1999 Tommi Liimatta decided to release this music on one hour C-cassettes which were distributed free to everyone interested. The exchange of blank and copied cassettes was organised via the mailing list Nollalista, which I had founded just a couple of weeks earlier. The tapes were called "Diu Dau Tapes" (or Diu Dau Cassettes) and they were labeled diuc-10, diuc-20 and so on. The last one so far is diuc-450. This is relevant in our case by the fact that all the uploaded wav-files start with a string like diuc-10 or d-450 which helps us to delete - and re-upload - just the cassettes we want. A new 60 minute cassette was released every other month, and by 2003 there was 28 cassettes circulating from fan to fan. The last cassettes were published in 2005 making the total amount of cassettes 38 + 2. (The two were 30-minute compilations.) This adds up to 38 hours of music, when the two compilations are left aside. ¹ At some point Liimatta (and the band) gave a permission to distribute these cassettes in a digital form - but only by streaming or as downloads. However, it took several years before that work was finally really started. In 2010 we decided to concentrate on Spotify as the major digital distribution media of these recordings and for that we were pleased to find Record Union. Liimatta had one condition: if the cassettes were to be published via Spotify, they had to be published all at the same time. This seems to be proven impossible now, as this project is quite unique in it's kind. And that's why we are experiencing these difficulties. I'm keen to do whatever it takes to get these tapes finally digitally available and I'm willing to work in a good cooperation with Record Union. At the same time I of course would like to minimize all extra work - that is uploading twice the files that have already been uploaded to Record Union. But if some of them really need to be deleted for now, so be it. > We strongly suggest you delete a large ammount of these tracks you have > uploaded and upload and edit ONLY the tracks which you would like to > contain in your upcoming release. > > In fact, we really have to insist you do this. As its stands, you have > over 18gb of files on our server and this is putting some serious strain > on it. > > Can we go ahead and delete these files for you? You will find it far > easier to use your account when we do. As you now know, I am going to contain each and every one of the uploaded files to my upcoming releases. The questions are: - How many releases can I publish in a year/month/week/day? - How many tracks can I have uploaded at a time? - How many files have to be deleted at this point? - Could it be possible for to you delete files chosen by a given string (like "d80-*.wav" or d?0-*.wav")? Yours, Juhani Anttila - - - - - - - ¹ Itse asiassa kokoelmakasetteja on enemmän. Ainakin diuc-170 on tunnin mittainen kokoelma.
